NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Starting Friday afternoon, the Long Island Rail Road will be running its new express service to the east end of the island.

It’s called the Cannonball and it goes non-stop from Penn Station to Westhampton, then on to Southampton, East Hampton, Bridgehampton, and Montauk.

This non-stop service is new to the LIRR and the trip to Westhampton is 94 minutes.

“There is simply no better or faster way to get from Manhattan to the Hamptons,” said LIRR president Helena Williams. “No changing trains at Jamaica with luggage. No subway ride to Hunters Point. Just get on the Cannonball.”

Reserve service on the first two cars is already sold out for today. But you can still get a seat elsewhere on the train.
