Hot Dog Hooker: 'They Keep Framing Me'
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The woman known as the "Hot Dog Hooker" pleaded not guilty to new charges in court Saturday, and accused authorities of framing her.
Cathy Scalia, 47, was arrested Friday after she allegedly performed a massage, without a license, on an undercover detective at a hotel in Garden City, Long Island, according to Nassau County police. She is also accused of offering to engage in a sexual act in exchange for money.
Scalia was charged with unauthorized practice and prostitution.
At her arraignment Saturday at Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead, Scalia said: "They keep framing me. I am broke. I am jobless. All these arrests are entrapment."
Friday night's alleged incident was not Scalia's first run in with the law. In 2012 she earned local fame and the nickname "The Hot Dog Hooker" after she pleaded guilty to prostitution for allegedly selling sex out of her hot dog cart.
She was arrested in a similar manner -- an undercover cop visited her hot dog truck and asked her to perform a sex act, police said. However, despite her plea, Scalia has always denied that she sold sex to the officer and said he only got a lap dance before more police arrived at the scene and arrested her.
Scalia insisted she did nothing illegal. She said she was just selling hot dogs and snacks and offering up her services as a stripper to anyone who was interested. Following her 2012 case she offered colorful commentary on her future business plans to CBS 2's Carolyn Gusoff.
"I'm finding one little spot in an industrial area. To the mothers and children out there, I will be selling the hot dogs in my bikini. To all the guys, I'm going to wiggle those wieners, we're going to have a good time," she said.
Scalia was sentenced to seven days in jail in 2012.
