L.I. Police: DWI Suspect Had Three Kids In Car

CORAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Bronx man who was driving a car filled with seven passengers, including three children, is accused of driving while intoxicated.

Ernesto Lezama, 42, was arrested Sunday night after an officer spotted him driving erratically and weaving around the road in Coram, police said.

Among the seven passengers in the vehicle were two 11-year-old children and one 14-year-old child, police said.

Lezama is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger and one count of driving while intoxicated.

Lezama was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.

The children have been released to the custody of family members.
