NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man was shot and killed just before midnight Friday night in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, just steps from the Pratt Institute campus.
Police responded at 11:53 p.m. Friday to the junction of Myrtle and Grand avenues in Brooklyn, and found the 23-year-old man lying with a gunshot wound to the right armpit.READ MORE: Brian Laundrie's Remains Found In Florida Nature Reserve, Officials Say
The victim was taken to the Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The incident happened just a few hours after an 11-year-old girl was shot and seriously wounded in the nearby Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.
Kane Cooper, 17, has been charged with firing the shots in that incident at Gates and Throop avenues around 8:30 p.m. Friday. The girl was not the intended target, police said.
