Bergen County Man Sentenced To More Than 24 Years In Prison For Child Pornography

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Federal prosecutors say a northern New Jersey man who possessed thousands of child porn images and dozens of related videos has been sentenced to 292 months in prison - or 24 1/3 years behind bars.

Martin Villalobos also was ordered Monday to pay $16,000 in restitution to victims and register as a sex offender. He also will have to serve five years of supervised release once he's released from prison.

Villalobos was convicted in January on two counts each of distributing and receiving child porn and one count of possessing child porn. The 41-year-old Lodi man was arrested in August 2011 after investigators found him in his locked bedroom with eight computer hard drives, more than 100 DVDs and other electronic media.

A forensic analysis of the material found in Villalobos' bedroom showed he was in possession of 5,442 photos and 164 child porn videos, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors also found Villalobos routinely used the Internet to solicit, receive and distribute child pornography.

Judge Stanley R. Chesler, who presided over the trial, said he took into account Villalobos' previous abuse of an unconscious woman with mental disabilities when he handed down the sentence.

Villalobos had been held in federal custody since his arrest.
