Quinn Bashes Mayoral Opponents, Touts Own Record Of Results

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Without naming names, New York City mayoral front-runner Christine Quinn took a broad swipe at her opponents during a speech in Harlem Monday afternoon.

Quinn has put on the gloves and is fighting back, accusing her opponents of offering New York voters no real solutions.

"Like me, my opponents have spent many years in public office. But when you look at their records, there's a great big hole where their results should be," Quinn said.

The City Council Speaker and Democratic hopeful never pointed to a particular opponent as she touted her own record.

She said the next mayor should bring "not just empty promises, silly press stunts or nonstop criticism, but a real plan."

She has faced weeks of attacks from her rivals vying to replace Mayor Michael Bloomberg at City Hall.

"Talk is cheap. Voters will decide based on actions. The greatest indication of what someone will be able to achieve can be found in what they've already accomplished. The record speaks for itself," said Quinn. "I do what I think is right, I do what I think is best for New York - that's it. I don't worry about labels, I don't worry about fitting into a narrative and I'm not concerned with making it easy to describe me in 140 characters or less."

She said she's delivered when it comes to triumphing over challenges on behalf of the city.

Some of Quinn's main challengers on the Democratic side are former Rep. Anthony Weiner, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, former city comptroller Bill Thompson and current comptroller John Liu.

Quinn's campaign labeled her remarks a major speech. So far, there's be no response from Quinn's rivals to her remarks.
