Man Wanted For Robbing Women Of iPhones On Subway Trains

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking from the public in finding a suspect who robbed two women of their iPhones on subway trains in Queens.

The first incident happened on May 14, around 12:30 a.m. A 37-year-old woman was reading something on her iPhone as she rode a northbound M train. When the train pulled into the 67th Avenue station in Forest Hills and the doors opened, the suspect ripped the iPhone out of the woman's hands and ran off.

No one was injured in the incident.

The second incident happened on June 6. A 20-year-old woman was also riding the northbound M train in the same area, when the suspect tried to rip her iPhone out of her hands, police said.

The victim fought back, but the suspect slammed the woman's head into the train door, and stole her iPhone and MetroCard. He ran off at the same 67th Avenue station.

The victim in that case refused medical aid, police said.

The suspect was described a black male between the ages of 16 and 17, weighing 150 to 160 pounds. Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect using the second woman's MetroCard at the Parsons Boulevard-Archer Avenue station several hours later.

Anyone with information in the case was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers Web site, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
