6 NYC Burgers Make List Of 40 Best In America

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- You don't need to go far to taste some of the best burgers in America.

New York City has claimed three top spots in a survey by TheDailyMeal.com of the 40 Best Burgers in America.

The Double Cheeseburger from Holeman & Finch Public House in Atlanta, Ga. claimed the top spot.

Second place went to the Black Label burger at the Minetta Tavern in Greenwich Village.

"While it's being cooked it's basted in butter, it's on a sesame-studded brioche bun that's baked especially for it, it's got caramelized onions, it comes with perfect french fries, it's aged beef, it's juicy, funky, salty and it costs $26," editor Dan Myers told 1010 WINS.

The Chargrilled Burger at The Spotted Pig also located in Greenwich Village claimed the third spot.

"It's from Chef April Bloomfield and essentially what she did it's a half-pound patty of prime grilled beef topped with Roquefort and it's in a brioche-style bun served with a mound of rosemary fries," Myers said. "It's an absolutely beautiful burger."

The fourth spot went to an Arlington, Va. eatery followed by the bacon cheeseburger at The Little Owl which is also in Greenwich Village.

"It's a patty about three-quarters of an inch thick from Pat LaFrieda it's a mix of brisket and short rib," Myers said. "It gets seasoned with a mix of curry powder and then it just gets American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion on a homemade bun and it's one of the most perfect burgers that you'll ever eat."

Three other New York City burgers also made the list: the Bistro Burger from the Corner Bistro; the Steak House Burger from Brindle Room and the Butter Burger at Lexington Candy Shop.

Myers said the Steak House Burger is only served at lunch.

"It's only $12 which makes it a real steal because it's all dry-aged meat and it's really minerally, funky and topped with caramelized onions and they give you the choice of putting cheese on it but honestly you really don't need it," Myers said.

He said the Butter Burger is "a gorgeous little patty, but they top it with about three tablespoons of butter and it's insanely delicious."

The Luger Burger at Peter Luger, which has several locations in New York, as well as the Orginal Burger from Louis Lunch in New Haven, Conn., the Steamed Cheeseburger from Ted's  in Meriden, Conn. and Sliders from White Manna in Hackensack, N.J. also made the list.
