Police Investigating Long Island Expressway Crash In Jericho

JERICHO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A fatal crash on the Long Island Expressway caused major delays early Friday morning in Jericho.

The wreck happened just after 3:30 a.m. near exit 41.

A 47-year-old man was driving east on the L.I.E. when he somehow lost control of his Nissan SUV and hit the center median, police said. The vehicle then crossed all four lanes of traffic and hit a wall.

The man was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said. His identity has not yet been released.

Police closed all eastbound lanes of the L.I.E. between exits 41 and 42 for several hours as they investigated the crash.
