B&C Morning Show: Mookie Wilson Speaks Candidly About The Mets, Past And Present
Boomer and Craig were thrilled to have Mookie Wilson (Craig's boyhood idol) in the Allstate Studio this morning to talk about a whole host of subjects, including the current state of the New York Mets, who boast two young pitching prospects in Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler.
According to Wilson, "it's a process" -- and when pressed, Mookie seemed a little put off by the fact that Jordany Valdespin is wearing his old jersey number.
Mookie also talked about how he was just a sneeze away from possibly losing an eye in 1986, put to rest the story that he used to deliver pizzas in a Jaguar with vanity plates that said "Mookie," how he is not a good softball player and loves being a minister.
When the subject of the '86 Mets team came up, Mookie was very forthcoming. He spoke of his relationship with the late Gary Carter and how he was not well liked all the time. He feels good about where his often-troubled former teammate Darryl Strawberry is these days in his life and says much maligned outfielder Kevin Mitchell often gets an unjust bad wrap...
