Report: NY Man Was Drunk, Exceeding 100 MPH On Long Island Expressway

NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York City man is accused of driving 100 mph while drunk on a Long Island highway.

Nassau County police pulled over Royce Quigua of Queens around 5 a.m. Sunday near Exit 36 of the Long Island Expressway.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation, reckless driving and unlawful fleeing of a police officer.

Police say Quigua was weaving in and out of traffic without signaling, ran several red lights after getting off the LIE and refused to pull over. Newsday reports that he then got back on the LIE and was eventually pulled over in Manhassett at Exit 36.

It wasn't immediately known if Quigua had a lawyer.
