Man, Woman Charged In String Of Long Island Burglaries

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the burglaries of several homes on Long Island.

Suffolk County Fifth Squad detectives this past Friday arrested Richard Neumann, 29, and Jessica King, 23, in connection with a burglary pattern in Sayville, Medford, Patchogue and East Patchogue. The burglars allegedly made off with jewelry and numerous electronic items, which were recovered at the time of the arrests.

The pair was also believed to have taken cash during the burglaries, police said.

The burglars struck houses that were unoccupied at the time between Feb. 4 and this past Friday, police said. There were a total of 12 burglaries, 10 of which happened since July 2, police said.

A green car was seen leaving the scene after one of the burglaries, and the car was traced back to King, police said.

Neumann, who was last known to live in Medford, was charged with 12 counts of second-degree burglary. King, of Shirley, was charged with seven counts of second-degree burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

The investigation continued this weekend.
