Vehicle Strikes And Kills Pedestrian, Hits Tree In Suffolk County

WADING RIVER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed early Sunday by a vehicle that went on to hit a tree and flip over in Suffolk County.

Jesse Feinberg was headed west on Route 25A just west of Randall Road in Wading River, when he struck Nicholas Pieloch, 20, at 3:18 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

Afterward, Feinberg's Explorer crossed into the eastbound lane, hit a tree, and flipped, police said.

Pieloch, of Rocky Point, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office. Feinberg, of Shoreham, was not injured, police said.

The Explorer was impounded for a safety check. The investigation continued later Sunday morning, and anyone with information was asked to call Suffolk County police Seventh Squad detectives at (631) 852-8752.
