69-Year-Old Woman Robbed, Beaten In Crown Heights Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 69-year-old woman was attacked and robbed this week in elevator in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.

The attack happened around 6:20 p.m. Friday in the apartment building at 540 St. Johns Pl. in Brooklyn, a few blocks from Prospect Park.

The woman was in elevator when the suspect walked in and pushed the button for the second floor. When the doors opened, the suspect pushed the woman to the ground and began kicking and punching her, police said.

The man then stole the woman's rings, chains and pendants, before running off.

The victim refused medical attention, police said.

Police described the assailant as a black male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a gray sweat shirt.

A surveillance video of the suspect waiting for the victim to enter the building has been released.
