Truck Strikes, Kills Woman In Hit-And-Run On Van Wyck Expressway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday morning were searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens.

Around 4:49 a.m., police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at 87-07 Van Wyck Expwy. in the Jamaica section of Queens.

Responding officers found the unidentified woman unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, with trauma to the body.

Paramedics took the woman to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators have learned that a truck headed north on the Van Wyck struck the victim and sped off.

As of later Saturday morning, there were no arrests in the case and no description was available for the truck.
