2 People Struck, Killed By LIRR Train In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two people were struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in Queens on Monday night.

The victims were hit by the commuter train at 193rd Street and Woodhull Avenue in the Hollis section of Queens at 10:18 p.m., authorities said.

Both victims were reported to be trespassers.

The victims' ages and identities were not immediately released. They were pronounced dead at the scene, the FDNY told 1010 WINS.

An FDNY spokesman did not say how the people got onto the tracks.

A LIRR spokesman had no details, but said the railroad had shut down power in the Hollis Station area.
