Maternity Monday: Dr. Francesca Fusco On The Couch

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- For "Maternity Monday," Dermatologist Dr. Francesca Fusco visited The Couch to talk about skin care for mothers and their newborns.

"Rule number one is no sun for newborns," Fusco said. "Don't consider applying a product. Keep the baby inside or well off into the shade."

Laundry detergent can also be a decision when caring for your newborn.

"There's many detergents out there and they smell nice, but this means that there are fragrances in them," she said. "So it's best to look for a detergent that says that it's fragrance free and hypoallergenic."

New moms have to take care of themselves as well. Fusco showed The Couch a natural way for moms to give themselves a hair mask.

"Two of the big issues with mom is hair and skin," Fusco said.
