Woman Hurt By Falling Branch In East Harlem

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was injured Monday evening when a branch fell on her in East Harlem.

At around 8 p.m., a branch from the tree fell on the woman as she played basketball at First Avenue and East 102nd Street, officials said.

The tree was located near a basketball court.

The woman was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and was initially reported to have suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries, officials said. But the FDNY later said the woman's injuries were considered minor.

The woman was the ninth person in the past seven weeks to be hit by a tree limb in the city, according to the New York City Parks Advocate.
