New Yorkers Hit The Pavement As 6th Annual Summer Streets Gets Rolling

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Summer Streets arrived with a rolling start on Saturday when New Yorkers hit the pavement to kick off the 6th annual event.

From the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, Park Ave was closed to traffic, open only for those on foot or two wheels, CBS 2's Vanessa Murdock reported.

New Yorkers had a chance to shed some calories, fly around on a zip line, or even get in a little bit of dancing.

Some people were just out for a stroll, but found themselves caught up in the excitement of Summer Streets.

"It's great to see New York without the cars, see everyone out active, having fun," said Amy Thomas.

Summer Streets will continue for the next two Saturdays.
