Yankees Call Up Betances, Option Adams To Triple-A

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The Yankees have recalled right-hander Dellin Betances from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and optioned David Adams to the same club.

Sunday's move comes a day after third baseman Alex Rodriguez was given the day off. Jayson Nix started at third Saturday instead of Adams, who is hitting .194 in 39 games for New York. He's played third in 30 games. Nix is hitting .232 in 81 appearances.

Betances will be making his first appearance for the Yankees since 2011. He was once considering a prized minor league prospect. Betances has 88 strikeouts in 72 2-3 innings, mostly in relief.
