Cab Driver Slams Into Scaffolding In Midtown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police are investigating after a taxi driver slammed into scaffolding outside a building in midtown Manhattan.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday on Sixth Avenue and 36th Street.

The crash involved two cabs. Jonathan Rodriguez, the concierge of the building where the wreck occurred, said one cab driver told him another cab hit his car causing a chain reaction.

"Somebody hit him from behind and he lost control and ended up here," Rodriguez said. "The driver walked out and luckily there was no one under the scaffolding when it came down."

The accident brought debris down onto the ground and on top of one of the cabs.

There were no reports of serious injuries.
