Report: Quinn Assists Teenage Supporter Who Passes Out At Campaign Event

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- City Council Speaker and mayoral candidate Christine Quinn was quick to come to the aid of a girl who passed out during a campaign event outside City Hall Sunday, according to a published report.

The 14-year-old girl -- who was a family friend of Quinn's wife, Kim Catullo – joined Quinn as she made a speech announcing her women's agenda, according to a New York Post report. Women's rights advocate Gloria Steinem and state Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) were also in attendance.

The girl was overcome by the heat, and passed out on the ground, the newspaper reported. Quinn helped the girl to her feet, brought her inside City Hall, and used wet paper towels and an ice pack to help cool her down, the newspaper reported.

The girl was examined by paramedics before finally being sent home with her parents, the paper reported.

On July 16, a City Hall intern passed out during an outdoor Quinn campaign even in Wiliamsburg, Brooklyn. Quinn later blasted the time it took paramedics to arrive for the 18-year-old intern after a 911 call.

Quinn said at the time that it took more than 30 minutes and a call to NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly to get an ambulance to the young intern. Afterward, she called for minimum response times for low-priority calls.
