Cops Release Sketch Of Suspect Wanted In Stun Gun Sex Assault

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is asking the public for help in identifying and tracking down a suspect wanted in connection with a rape that took place in Forest Park on Monday.

On Friday CBS 2's Lou Young reported that a woman had been sexually assaulted by a man wielding a stun gun.

It was the second time this year that a woman has been sexually assaulted by a man armed with a stun gun in the park, police said.

The attacker allegedly struck the 69-year-old victim with a stun gun -- but didn't fire -- around 4:30 p.m. Monday near Myrtle Avenue and Forest Park Road in Forest Park, authorities said.

The woman told police that she was approached by a white man standing 5-foot-9 to 5-11 and wearing a black shirt and black pants. He knocked her to the ground and then sexually assaulted her, police said.

The victim is an immigrant and does not speak English well. She waited a couple of days before reporting the attack, sources told CBS 2's Young on Friday.

In March, a 23-year-old woman reported a similar attack in the same park. She told police a man came from behind her and shot her in the neck with a stun gun before sexually assaulting her.

Police have not linked the two attacks.
