Yankees Expand Roster; Call-Up David Adams, Three Pitchers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — As the calendar switches from August to September and the New York Yankees look to complete a three-game sweep of their division rival the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees are adding infielder David Adams and three pitchers as the rosters are expanded for the September call-ups.

The Yankees promoted right-handers Dellin Betances and Brett Marshall and lefty Cesar Cabral from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. They also signed catcher J.R. Murphy and selected him from Triple-A before Sunday's game against Baltimore.

Adams is making his fourth stint with the Yankees this season. Betances is back with the Yankees for the third time this season.

To make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Jayson Nix was transferred to the 60-day disabled list and outfielder Melky Mesa was unconditionally released.
