De Blasio: Quinn's Legal Filing To Implement Stop-And-Frisk Reforms Is 'Desperate'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In filing papers against the city's push to continue the stop-and-frisk program during an appeal of a riling against it, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn might have painted herself as a target.
As WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reported, rival mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio's campaign called the move "desperate."

The public advocate has retained the law firm BakerHostetler, and plans to file its own court papers in support of a police monitor, according to a New York Times report.
Over the holiday weekend, with just a week to go before the primary, Quinn announced plans to take historic legal action to ensure reforms made to stop-and-frisk are not blocked by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
"There should be no stay granted," Quinn said. "I don't understand why the mayor is objecting to the court's ruling."
She was set Tuesday to file a legal declaration with the U.S. District Court, hoping to block Bloomberg's effort to put on hold a judge's recommended reforms to stop-and-frisk, including a federal monitor.
"We're taking this court action – which, as far as we can tell, is unprecedented for the City Council – because we strongly oppose Mayor Bloomberg in his attempt to block the implementation of the federal judge's ruling that we need to implement immediately," Quinn said.
Of the timing, Quinn said it is based on the court's calendar. While the primary is coming up in a week, she said it has nothing to do with the election.
