Jets Re-Sign Quarterback Brady Quinn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Jets have re-signed quarterback Brady Quinn -- as expected -- after cutting him Saturday.

The Jets released Quinn over the weekend, deciding to go into Sunday's opener against Tampa Bay with only two healthy quarterbacks -- rookie Geno Smith and backup Matt Simms. The move prevented New York from having to guarantee Quinn's salary.

Quinn provides the Jets some insurance with Mark Sanchez out with a right shoulder injury. Sanchez will reportedly have a second opinion early this week.

Smith rallied the Jets to an improbable 18-17 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.

The Jets also announced that they have released linebacker Danny Lansanah and signed wide receiver Rahsaan Vaughn to the practice squad.
