Share Your Superstition: Friday The 13th Makes Some New Yorkers Wary

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There's not much to dislike about Friday -- except when it falls on the 13th, like it does this Friday.

In fact, there is an actual condition called Friggatriskaidekaphobia, known as the fear of Friday the 13th. This is the first Friday the 13th of the year, and we have another one to look forward to in December.

We reached out to CBSNewYork's Facebook fan base to see if any of our followers are plagued by fear of the superstitious date.

As it turns out, some folks take the legend of the day's bad luck quite seriously.

"Absolutely, I have always scheduled a day off when working on that day and stay home!" said Nancy Condon.

"Broke my leg on a Friday the 13th," said Kenny Bernzweig.

But others don't let the superstitions get to them.

"Just another Friday!" said Patricia SanFilippo Cuti.

"Didn't realize it until you told me," wrote Paul J Perrone.

"I was born 39 years ago today," said Chris Gould. "I feel very blessed and lucky to have such amazing family, friends and my beautiful bride that I married a year ago. Although there have been some rough spots in my life...all in all life is pretty good!"
