Nickelodeon's 10th Annual Worldwide 'Day Of Play' Encourages Kids To Get Up & Play


NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Daniella Monet is the host of AwesomenessTV, a rapid-fire half-hour sketch comedy series on Nickelodeon. She joined us to talk about the network's 10th annual 'Day of Play,' a health and wellness initiative taking place this week.

Nickelodeon and its partners will be hosting events all week - locations include Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, Union Square, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Times Square. Check out the list of events below:

Wednesday, September 18 -- Union Square
Neighborhood kids, families, commuters and shoppers can all jump, skip, stretch and dance at Union Square Park; where event partners Art of Stepping and National Double Dutch League will bring special activities to get kids up can moving.

Thursday, September 19 -- Brooklyn Bridge Park
SpongeBob, Patrick and Dora the Explorer will be at Brooklyn Bridge Park to cheer on kids take as they participate in a mini-triathlon. Competing activities include kayaking at Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, skateboarding with the Afterschool Alliance and Stoked, and volleyball at the Pier 6 Volleyball Courts.

Friday, September 20 - - Times Square
New York Road Runners Club will host a Nickelodeon-themed '5-Borough Relay Race' with the help of SpongeBob, Patrick, Dora The Explorer and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Kids and adults can pose for a free commemorative photo with a favorite Nick character.

Saturday, September 21 - Prospect Park
Free, ticketed event offering an entire day of activities and games for kids and families, including football, tennis, dance, stepping and arts and entertainment. Big Time Rush and Ariana Grande will be performing and cast members from Nickelodeon's shows including Sam & Cat, The Haunted Hathaways, Instant Mom and See Dad Run will be on-site.
