Giants Sign FB Conner, Place Hynoski On IR

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Former Jets fullback John Conner will be back at MetLife Stadium this season as a member of the New York Giants.

The Giants announced the signing Wednesday. He'll replace Henry Hynoski, who was placed on injured reserve after fracturing his shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The 26-year-old blocking specialist has 88 yards on 21 career carries with two touchdowns.

"We need a fullback, we need a lead blocker," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "He is a physical guy. We think he'll go up in the hole and clear the hole for the running back and we hope he'll be a good pass protector and contribute on special teams as well."

Connor was waived by the Jets last year. He landed with Cincinnati but was released in late August.

The Giants (0-3) will be looking for their first win of the season Sunday in Kansas City. Conner, nicknamed "The Terminator," will make his return to East Rutherford on Oct. 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
