Police: Mini School Bus Hits, Kills Skateboarder In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A skateboarder died after being struck by a mini school bus in the Bronx on Wednesday.

It happened around 7:15 a.m. at Melrose Avenue and 160th Street in Morrisania.

Genielle Laboriel, 21, was on her skateboard on Melrose Avenue when she was hit by the mini school bus that was making a right turn onto 160th Street, police said.

Laboriel was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver on the bus remained on the scene and so far, no charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing.
