Jets Claim TE Zach Sudfeld Off Waivers From Patriots

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have claimed tight end Zach Sudfeld off waivers from the New England Patriots.

Sudfeld, a rookie free agent, was waived by the Patriots on Thursday after he struggled during the regular season following an impressive preseason that included eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets waived linebacker Scott Solomon to make room on the roster for Sudfeld.

The 6-foot-7, 260-pound Sudfeld played at the University of Nevada and signed with New England in May. He had no catches in three regular-season games for the Patriots.

Sudfeld joins a tight ends group that includes Kellen Winslow Jr., the team's leading receiver with 16 catches, Jeff Cumberland and Konrad Reuland.
