Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Left Woman Dead On Long Island

HOLBROOK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday were searching the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on Long Island in the early morning hours.

Cheri Larrydale, 46, was walking north on Broadway Avenue across Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook early Saturday, when she was hit by a vehicle headed west on the highway around 12:40 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

Larrydale was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office, police said.

The vehicle sustained front-end and headlight assembly damage, but the driver sped off and got away, police said.
