Man Dies After Being Pulled From Rockaway Inlet

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man is dead after police pulled him from the water in the Rockaway Inlet offshore from Brooklyn Sunday.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police responded to a call of a body in the inlet behind the Kingsborough Community College Marine Center, at 2001 Oriental Blvd. at the eastern end of Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn.

Police pulled the man from the water and performed CPR, while paramedics met the officers at the Marine Center pier and took the man to Coney Island Hospital.

The man, who was described as being in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. His name has not been released.

The investigation into how the man got into the water was ongoing Sunday night.
