Report: Former Minister Sentenced For Having Sex With Second Underage Girl

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -- A former minister already serving time for having sex with an underage girl has been sentenced to 10 more years for having sex with her sister.

Curtis Franklin made no statement during his sentencing Friday in state Superior Court in Hackensack. The Record of Woodland Park reported the victims' father, who wasn't identified to protect his daughters' identity, told the judge, ``This creep molested both of my daughters'' and asked for a tough sentence.

Franklin, a 48-year-old former assistant pastor at the Mahwah Full Gospel Church, was convicted in April on three counts of sexual assault after less than four hours of jury deliberations. Last November he received an eight-year sentence after his conviction in a separate case.

An initial trial in 2011 was declared a mistrial after it was revealed that a juror had researched the case online and shared information with other jurors.

Prosecutors alleged Franklin, a father of two daughters, had a sexual relationship with one of the girls when she was 12 and he was in his 30s, and with the other girl beginning when she was 15. The alleged incidents began in the late 1990s.

In the first trial, Franklin denied having sex with the girl and claimed the allegations arose during an unrelated dispute with the girls' mother, who worked at the church. In the second case, he claimed the girl was over the age of consent when he sex with her, The Record reported.
