6 Teens Charged With Assaulting, Robbing Passengers On PATH Train

HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A group of teenagers assaulted and robbed several passengers on a PATH train Sunday morning, police said.

Six Newark juveniles, ages 15 to 17, were arrested. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on a Hoboken-bound train. Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said police received a call at about 1:20 a.m.

One of the victims, a 21-year-old from Budd Lake, received eight stitches in his lip. Other victims suffered lacerations and bruises. All the victims were taken to Hoboken University Medical Center and have been released.

After the passengers provided descriptions to responding officers, police arrested the suspects in Hoboken Terminal. One of the victims' wallets was recovered.

The six teens are charged with gang assault and robbery and are being held in the Hudson County juvenile detention facility.
