Struggling Rangers Put Biron, Asham On Waivers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Rangers are a mess. They are 1-4 and have allowed 25 goals. So they made some changes on Monday.

According to Newsday, the Blueshirts put veteran backup goalie Martin Biron and wing Arron Asham on waivers. If they are not claimed, they could be sent down to AHL Hartford.

Biron appeared in two games, allowing nine goals on 38 shots. He started Saturday's 5-3 loss in St. Louis but was pulled after allowing four goals in two periods.

According to various online reports the Rangers are expected to call up goalie Cam Talbot from Hartford, where he had been 2-0-1 with a 2.54 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

Asham, a 15-year veteran, did not have a point and was a minus-3 in three games with the Rangers. He was a healthy scratch on Saturday.

The Rangers still have four games remaining on their season-opening nine-game road trip. They play in Washington on Wednesday.
