LISTEN: Mike Francesa, Daily News' O'Keeffe Go At It Over A-Rod

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- This got angry.

It got heated.

It made for some very, very interesting radio.

WFAN host Mike Francesa had Michael O'Keeffe of the New York Daily News' sports investigation team in studio on Friday to discuss Alex Rodriguez's arbitration hearing and how the case has been reported.

Daily News reporter Michael O'Keeffe

The discussion quickly turned into a slugfest.

Just to give you some background, here is an article that O'Keeffe wrote in his newspaper on Thursday night, entitled "Mike Francesa's rant on Alex Rodriguez case gets its facts mixed up."

That was in response to this.

Has the New York Daily News been fair to Rodriguez? Francesa doesn't think so. Has Francesa been fair? Naturally, O'Keeffe doesn't think so.

Who do you agree with? Make your own conclusion below.

We don't even know where to begin with this one, folks. Words can't do the interview justice. It simply must be listened to.

Here's just a small taste, a sliver, of how the conversation went:

O'Keeffe: What's your point, that we picked on A-Rod?

Francesa: Selective, yes. Totally selective.

O'Keeffe: That's crap. That's not true.

Francesa: It has been for the last year. It's been a total witch-hunt.

O'Keeffe: That's dishonest. That's a lie.

Francesa: It's been a total witch-hunt.

O'Keeffe: Why wouldn't you cover this guy aggressively, Mike? You're obviously not a reporter.

Francesa: I'm not a reporter. I'm a sports-talk host.

O'Keeffe: We're doing our job. You're a sycophant! You're a sycophant!

Francesa: Wait a second. Why am I a -- I don't even have a relationship with A-Rod.

O'Keeffe: One of my colleagues was saying you gave (A-Rod) a big bro hug back in spring training in 2010. Come on. You don't have a relationship with him?

Francesa: What are you talking about? I've never socialized with A-Rod one day in my life.

O'Keeffe: But you had him on the air and you never asked him the relevant question, the 800-pound gorilla in the room, Mike.

Francesa: I've never -- wait a second! What is my relationship with A-Rod? I don't have one.

And trust us -- it got much, much better from there.

Enjoy...
