Crowds Expected Outside 'Amityville Horror' House This Halloween

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A Long Island village braces for its annual Halloween horror show.

As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, the crowds come every year to visit the Amityville Horror house.

It's been an attraction for nearly 40 years, when the bloody murder mystery sparked the famed horror in Amityville.

"No matter who I call anywhere out of town, the first question 'you live in Amityville? Oh my God! The horror?'" a local resident told Xirinachs.

Residents said they've learned to live with the annual Halloween attraction.

"I don't mind it, it's just not true. That's the whole problem," another woman said.

Other residents complained that the only horror is the traffic that accompanies the attraction.
