Suspect Sought For Holding Up Several Suffolk County Gas Stations

HAUPPAGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Suffolk County Police are searching for a man suspected in eight armed robberies carried out over the past two weeks.

According to police, in each incident, the suspect entered the targeted location and pretended to buy something. When the employee opened the cash register, police said the suspect pulled out a black handgun and demanded cash before taking off, police said.

The robberies have occurred at seven gas stations in Eastport, Calverton, Mastic, North Babylon, St. James, Dix Hills and Bohemia as well as at Jamba Juice in Stony Brook. No one was injured during any of the robberies.

The incidents began on Oct. 26.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a thin to medium build. He usually wears a dark-colored or gray hooded sweatshirt.

Pattern Crime Unit detectives continue their investigation into the robberies.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on these robberies or if anyone recognizes the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
