NEW YORK (WLNY) — Paul Shaffer has been David Letterman’s band leader for more than three decades, and now he’s getting involved in a cause to help people adopt pets.

Paul and his daughter Victoria Shaffer taped a PSA for the Shelter Pet Project.

“It’s just part of the concept of rescuing rather than make a new life,” Shaffer said. “There’s an overpopulation problem with dogs, it’s as simple as that.”

“Rescue dogs are so nice, there’s just something about them,” he said.
