What's Open On Veterans Day?
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Alternate side parking rules are suspended Monday for Veterans Day, but you'll still have to pay those meters.
Most stores are open, while libraries, post offices and government offices are closed. The stock market is open and most banks are closed.
The nation's largest Veterans Day parade stepped off at Fifth Avenue and 26th Street this morning.

This year's grand marshal is Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, the U.S. military's first female four-star general. Dunwoody retired last year after a 37-year Army career.
Former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony Principi also is a grand marshal and Gen. Ray Odierno, the Army's chief of staff, is an honorary grand marshal of the parade.
The commemoration will include a wreath-laying ceremony at the Eternal Light Monument in Madison Square Park.
The following streets will be closed Monday from 11:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Veteran's Day Parade event as permitted by NYPD:
- Broadway between 23rd Street and 25th Street
- 25th Street between Park Avenue and Madison Avenue
- 25th Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue
- 26th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue
- 27th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue
- 28th Street between Broadway and Madison Avenue
- 29th Street between Broadway and Madison Avenue
- 5th Avenue between 23rd Street and 53rd Street (Parade Route)
- 52nd Street between 6th Avenue and Park Avenue (Dispersal)
- 53rd Street between 6th Avenue and Madison Avenue (Festival)
Also Closed:
- Madison Avenue between 23rd Street and 26th Street
- 41st Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue
- 6th Avenue between 52nd Street and 55th Street
- 52nd Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue
