Archie Manning called in Tuesday morning, and after he was done touting Fordham’s head football coach Joe Moorehead for ‘Coach of the Year’ (you can cast your vote at CoachoftheYear.com), the topic of his boys Eli and Peyton inevitably came up.

Eli’s struggles this year have been well-documented, but Archie pronounced Eli to be just fine.  The Manning family patriarch then went on to spew a whole host of chiches with regards to his youngest son, including my personal favorite, ‘he just needs to keep sawing wood.’

Conversely, the proud papa admitted to being amazed at what Peyton is doing in Denver this season, especially after all he was able to accomplish last year with a new team.

Before saying goodbye, Archie offered his take on Texas A&M signal-caller Johnny Manziel’s future in the NFL and seemed a little astounded that at 3-6, Eli’s Giants are still alive in the NFC playoff picture…
