Upper West Side Heats Up For Premiere Of 'Catching Fire'

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- New York City was ready to host one of the biggest movie premiere's of the year on Wednesday night when the stars of the new 'The Hunger Games' sequel, including Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, hit the red carpet.

Critics said that the bow and arrow wielding heroine Katniss Everdeen was more fierce than ever before, CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez reported.

'Catching Fire' is the second installment of The Hunger Games trilogy, a literary adventure series by Suzanne Collins.

In the latest film Katniss and her warrior partner Peeta Mellark, played by Josh Hutcherson, are forced to compete in a new and even more lethal version of the game that audiences witnessed when the series launched in 2012.

Most of the cast has returned for the sequel including Liam Helmsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Stanley Tucci.

The film made its Los Angeles premiere on Monday night and Lawrence wowed fans with a jaw dropping, body bearing, Dior Haute Couture gown.
