Fordham Beats Sacred Heart 37-27 In FCS Playoff
NEW YORK CITY (AP) — Fordham scored 20 points off turnovers, Levon Williams was involved in three, defeating Sacred Heart 37-27 in the first FCS playoff game played at Coffey Field in the Bronx Saturday.
Sacred Heart (10-3) scored twice in the third quarter and closed to 31-27. The Pioneers were driving late when Williams picked off RJ Noel. Noel threw two interceptions in the period, each leading to a Fordham field goal.
Michael Marando booted his third field goal, second of the quarter, to ice the game with 2:05 left.
Michael Nebrich completed 32 of 51 passes — three for TDS — and rushed for a score. Sacred Heart was powered by Keshauda Spence's 25 carries for 194 yards and 2 TDs.
Jake Rodrigues forced two Spence fumbles, each recovered by Williams. Williams and Jordan Chapman each picked Noel - leading to 20 points by Fordham.
Fordham plays at 10-2 Towson on Dec. 7.
