Check: Traffic & Transit | Forecast & Alerts | Flight Delays
NJSP Tweeted that troopers responded to 83 accidents Thursday between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Foggy conditions are also causing massive delays at area airports.
LaGuardia is currently experiencing five-hour delays due to fog.
"It is delayed," Richard Merians, a passenger at LaGuardia Airport, told CBS 2's Dave Carlin. "We're going to be very positive about it. Keep our fingers crossed.
"I hope that we didn't come (to the airport) on a fool's errand."
Christine Sisson's flight to Chicago was delayed. She admitted she went to LaGuardia without checking with the airline about her flight status.
"I figured (the fog) might be a factor, but didn't think to check," she said.
"I got a bunch of reading material."
Liberty 2 1/2 hours, Kennedy 1 hour
Newark Liberty International Airport is also experiencing delays of more than two hours, and flights at Kennedy Airport were held up about an hour.
A dense fog advisory will be in effect for much of the Tri-State Area from 8 p.m. Thursday, through 6 a.m. Friday.
