Bloomberg's daughter Georgina gave birth to Jasper Michael Brown Quintana on Tuesday afternoon.

"I spent a few minutes with her last night, held the baby, oohed and ahhed," said the mayor.

A few blocks away at the 108th Precinct, Bloomberg spoke about holding the baby for the first time.

"It's you, it's your flesh and blood, it's my former wife, I mean both of us created something. And then it's George and Ramiro and they seem very happy," said the mayor.

As to whether or not Jasper will follow his grandfather into politics or public service?

"Whether he's going to join the police department, I have absolutely no idea," Bloomberg joked. "He did not tell me anything yesterday, as you might imagine."

Jasper's father is Ramiro Quintana, a professional equestrian from Argentina.

Georgina Bloomberg is also a professional rider.

Bloomberg and ex-wife Susan Brown have two daughters - Georgina, 30, and Emma, 34. Bloomberg and Brown divorced in 1993.
