Cabbie Returns Christmas Presents Left In Trunk To Bronx Family

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A livery cab driver in the Bronx found himself playing Santa this Christmas.

Matilda Garcia, 57, mistakenly left four bagfuls of wrapped presents in the trunk of Moustapha Bah's cab on Christmas Eve.

Garcia called the cab company on Christmas morning, but was initially told the 37-year-old cabbie was unavailable.

In the meantime, Bah and his brother -- with whom he shares the cab -- found the gifts in the trunk.

"I saw how many packages there were in the trunk and I couldn't imagine how many people were waiting for those different packages," Bah told 1010 WINS.

Bah remembered Garcia and realized she was the one who left behind the packages.

He called the dispatcher about the find and the gifts were returned to Garcia just in time for her to hand them out to her ecstatic family on Christmas day.

"They got everything back and I'm happy for them and I wish them a happy new year," Bah said.

The cabbie said he has a young son and wants to raise him to "be honest in life and do the right thing all the time."
