Report: Bloomberg Spent $650M On NYC In 12 Years

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A new report says billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been very generous to the City of New York.

The outgoing mayor spent at least $650 million of his own fortune over the course of three terms in office, the New York Times reported.

That figure includes $30 million donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Forbes Magazine estimates Bloomberg, who famously took a $1 annual salary as mayor, is worth $27 billion.

Bloomberg leaves office at midnight Tuesday.
