West Side Subway Extension, More Wi-Fi Service Coming In New Year

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will be making big changes in the new year.

As WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported, the MTA is going to add Wi-Fi and cell phone service to stations in Queens in 2014.

"That's really awesome," an Astoria resident told Kosola.

"It's going to be good now," another N train rider said.

West Side Subway Extension, More Wi-Fi Service Coming In New Year

Cell phone and Wi-Fi service will come to 40 additional stations in Midtown and Queens, according to the transit agency.

In June, the 7 train will begin running to 11th Avenue and the Fulton Street Transit Center will open.

The MTA has also promised more frequent G train and M train service in the new year.
