According to police, the suspect has held up five nail salons since Dec. 23. The most recent incident happened Monday around 6:15 p.m. at the Cleo Nails and Spa in New Hyde Park.

The five robberies have occurred at nail salons in Wantagh, Franklin Square, Valley Stream and New Hyde Park, said Nassau County Police Inspector Kenneth Lack.

"The MO is almost the same all the time: he walks into the store, announces a robbery, displays a black handgun and usually takes cash from the register in the stores. No one has been hurt at this time but we are certainly looking for the public's help if they have information on this individual," Lack told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall. "He is usually wearing blue jeans with some type of hoodie on, either a white hoodie or a dark hoodie. Sometimes he's wearing a ski mask, sometimes he is wearing a bandanna around his face."

Police believe the man is targeting nail salons because many people pay in cash.

The suspect is described as a white male, about five feet seven inches tall.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
